Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
